2010 Elise

The new 2010 Elise model from Lotus will come with less carbon emissions and improved fuel consumption for the 2010 model year. According to the sources from the Lotus, the new Elise S model will come with great improvement in mileage. The expected mileage to be achieved by the next generation Elise will be 37.2 miles per gallon.

Engine

Power to the vehicle comes from the 1.8 liter I-4 engine that can produce power up to 141 kilo watts at an angular speed of 7800 rpm and torque of 181 Nm at 6800 rpm. The new engine will have the bore size of 80.0 mm, compression ratio of 11.5 and stroke of 89.3 mm with four valves per cylinder, double overhead cam and variable valve camshaft.

Performance

Lotus has announced that the new Elise model will have reduced carbon emissions and improved fuel economy on its 2010 Exige and Elise. The new cars from Lotus will cut down the CO2 emissions by 9 percent and improvement in fuel economy by 3.2 miles per gallon. The next generation Elise model can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a time span of just 4.6 seconds, while the previous model had the time span of 5.3 seconds to achieve the same speed. The combined fuel economy of the 2010 Elise model will be 28.3 miles per gallon, while it will be 26.8 miles per gallon for the Elise R model. The Exige S and the Elise SC models are expected to achieve the fuel economy of 27.7 miles per gallon.
