The 2010 Durango from the Dodge group is one of the largest sport utility vehicles, with the seating capacity of eight passengers and more cargo space. The 2010 Dodge Durango model will be offered in five different trim levels namely, the Durango R/T, Durango Sport, SXT, SLT and SLT plus. The new model will be equipped with the most powerful engines in the market today. The standard on all the trim levels will be the 5.9 liter turbine engine that can produce power up to 250 hp and torque of 345 lb ft.


The other engines that will be provided in the next generation Durango model will include the 4.7 liter magnum V-8 engine that can produce power up to 235 hp at 4800 rotations per minute and torque of 295 hp at the rate of 3200 rotations per minute. The power related other part of Durango include
• Independent MacPherson front and rear struts,
• Part time four wheel drive,
• Towing capacity of 7,500 lbs and
• Available full time four wheel drive

In addition to the 16 inch cast aluminum wheels, the features included at the exterior side of the vehicle will be
• Available heated front seats with 6-way power controls,
• Available steering wheel remote control buttons for the sound system,
• DVD rear seat video system and
• Dual zone temperature control


The front bench seat with an available 40/20/40, standard 40/20/20 tumble-and-fold second seat and third row hideaway seat for carting will provide luxury in the vehicle. The rear seats of the vehicle will fold in to the floor so as to make better utilization of 88 cubic feet interior cargo space.

The safety features that are expected to be included in the 2010 Dodge Durango model include next generation front passenger and driver air bag system, standard four wheel disc brakes with ABS, sentry key engine Immobilizer that requires the correct key to start your vehicle and supplemental side curtain air bags. The other features include side impact curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners.


The 5.7 liter V8 engine comes with the bore size of 99.5 mm, stroke of 90.9 mm, and compression ratio of 10.5 with over head cam and variable valve timing. The sport model of Durango comes with more cargo space, while not avoiding the needed safety features. The Durango SLT plus and SLT models will offer leather seating, while the R/T model employs a full time four wheel drive.


The 2010 model will appear pretty good for an off road vehicle that can take on most of the road obstacles. The 16 inch cast aluminum wheels will be standard on all the models and will be included with the features like steering wheel remote control buttons for the sound system, standard dual zone temperature control for the front passenger and driver, DVD rear seat video system and heated front seats with 6-way power controls.
