The mid-sized sport utility vehicle from Ford, 2010 Explorer is expected to hit the market by the end of 2010 or in the early season of 2011. The next generation SUV continues to be a solid model, but unspectacular performance vehicle in its class. The 2010 Explorer is the redesigned version of 2006 car. Most of the styles and offerings by the vehicle will be same, but will be equipped with high quality interiors and stylish exteriors. The next generation Explorer model will be offered in three trim versions- the base model XLT, the Eddie Bauer and the premium limited version.
Powertrain
As far as the powertrain to be equipped in the new model is concerned, it will be a 4.0 liter SOHC 12v V6 model that delivers power up to 210 hp at an angular speed of 5100 rpm and 254 lb ft at an angular speed of 3700 rpm. With the powerful engine, the new model is expected to achieve the fuel economy of 14 miles per gallon in the city premises and 20 miles per gallon on the highway roads.
