Check out the future shock announced by Ford – The all new 2010 Ford Airstream is expected to adopt the superb features of the “silver bullet” caravans, titled with same name. After holding back for quite sometime, now Ford has decided to finally make a big move and step into the future, and unveiled the all new Airstream concept van!

Yes, it will be indeed a powerful creation as two super powers Ford and Airstream from the North American caravan have decided to join hands and come up with a futuristic crossover concept.

It appears that the 2010 Airstream will be more like cross between an all-wheel drive crossover and a caravan, but the more interesting part of the story is that this invention will powered by a hydrogen hybrid fuel cell.

These cells are developed by Ballard, and are getting popular these days as the HySeries Drive, which are capable of operating ONLY with electric power! Sounds simply superb, isn’t it? Well sure thing, cent percent electric drives have not been successful in past, but don’t worry this will be a combination of both, and feature a combined fuel figure of about 5.4L/100km

It would be able to even operate in pure electric mode, allowing you to cover a distance of about 45kms, soon after which, the fuel cell will kick-in and recharge the powerhouse 336 Volt, Lithium-Ion battery pack provided in the vehicle.

When the hydrogen-powered fuel cells are incorporated, the range tends to even approach the 500km mark, so it essentially means that the new advanced fuel cell powered system, would only cost you half the charge, weigh less, and be an ideal deal for anyone and everyone.

It comes with following impressive features –

• Aircraft-inspired design language
• Unique reflective paint
• 12 ceremonial rivets,
• Bold futuristic front-end
• Single-surface grille
• Blended headlights
• Bold orange-trimmed windows.
• Asymmetric doors
• Easy loading of passengers as well as cargo.
• Driver’s side hatch
• Power clamshell door on the passenger side covering two-thirds the length
• Three-door hatch at the rear of the crossover
• Floating instrument panel
• Flush-mounted,
• Touch-sensitive controls
• Modern lava lamp
• Multi-function single gauge display
• Virtual fire, as well as
• Live camera feed.

These specs and style pay homage to the iconic construction of the Airstream over the years. There’s no update on when it would be approved for production, but the concept car simply looks mind blowing for sure!
