The 2010 Prius from Toyota is redesigned with fresh design styles, higher EPA fuel economy rates, power and is also expected to come included with more standard as well as optional features.

The next generation Prius model will be available in both electric as well as gasoline levels. It will be designed based on the new four door hatchback model that includes a battery powered electric motor to the four cylinder engine and comes mated with continuously variable automatic transmission.
The hybrid system allows the vehicle to run using either one of the resources or it can run using both the resources at a time to balance the fuel economy and acceleration. It does not require any additional plug-in charging to balance the level. The 2010 Prius model will be available in four different models namely Prius II, III, IV, and V and the entry level Prius I will be added later.

The safety features available in the new 2010 Prius model will include front side air bags, Antilock Braking System, curtain side air bags, traction control system and antiskid system. The standard features in the Prius V include 17 inch alloy wheels, fog lights and LED head lights and the features that are added newly to the model comprise telescopic steering column, height adjustable driver seat, heated front seats and safety connect assistance system. The high end features provided in the next generation Prius model include lane keep assist with lane departure warning, intelligent parking assist and adaptive cruise control system and these features are normally included only in Toyota’s Lexus division models. The new features to the vehicle are expected to include like electric air conditioning and solar roof panel that can supply power to ventilating fan when the vehicle is parked.

The main features that attract customers towards the Toyota Prius constitue driving comfort, fuel economy and passenger room. The 2010 Prius comes powered with 1.8 liter gasoline engine tied with two electric motors by the help of planetary gear set, which acts as a CVT (continuous variable transmission) that can produce 98 hp of power. The total power delivered by using both the electric motors and gasoline engine will be 134 hp, while previous model delivered only 110 hp power. The next generation Prius model can achieve fuel economy rate of 48 miles per gallon on highway roads and 51 miles per gallon in the city. The main competitors to the 2010 Toyota Prius include Ford Fusion Hybrid, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Volkswagen’s Jetta TDI, Honda Civic Hybrid and Nissan’s Altima Hybrid.
