The new 2010 PT Cruiser from Chrysler comes with no major changes when compared with the previous Cruiser vehicle. The new Cruiser model is expected to hit the market in the middle of 2010. It comes in four door wagon body style, allowing five passengers to accommodate in the vehicle.


The 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser model will be offered in three different trims, namely Limited, Touring and Base models. All the three models come with 2.4 liter four-cylinder inline engine. Touring and Base models would have 150 hp. Standard on Limited and optional on Touring model would be 180 hp turbo charged engine. The base model of PT Cruiser will be offered in either automatic or manual transmission, while the Touring and Limited versions will be offered in only automatic transmission.


The 2.4 liter inline engine comes with four valves per cylinder and overhead cam. The bore, compression ratio and stroke of the engine will be 87.5 mm, 9.5 and 101 mm respectively. The power from the engine will be 112 kilo watts at the rate of 5,200 rotations per minute and torque will be 164 lb ft at the rate of 4000 rotations per minute. The average fuel economy of the next generation compact car is expected to be 20 miles per gallon. The maximum speed of the 2010 PT Cruiser is expected to be more than 65 miles per hour.

The features provided in the new PT Cruiser will include,

• Antilock braking system
• Front side air bags
• Heated front seats
• Sunroof
• Leather upholstery
• Wireless cell phone link

Traction control and four wheel disc brakes comes standard, while the Uconnect system and satellite radio will be provided as optional features. The Uconnect system in the car uses sound system as wireless link, hands free to any cell phone in the vehicle. The cargo space provided in the 2010 PT Cruiser will be versatile and generous. Flat fold front passenger seat will be useful for loading large objects. The area behind the rear seat will be reserved but split rear bench removes or folds to create a wide, tall cargo bay.


The size of wheel base in the base model will be 15 inches, while it will be 16 inches for Limited and Touring models. The GT model comes included with the features like silver instrument faces with matching cabin accent, exclusive sport seats, wheel base of 17 inches and body color exterior trim.

A steady stream of trim options and the new packages provided in the new 2010 PT Cruiser is likely to improve the sales rate. The sport suspension system in the Limited versions is expected to provide nice driving comfort but with some minor vibrations.


Though hard plastics are used in the production of interior parts, but do not look cheap. The headroom provided in the car will be satisfactory, despite its high body build. Adjustable chair-height seats are equipped so as to provide more comfort to driver as well as passengers.
