The Cadillac will be releasing the new SRX model in the year 2010, the design features in the vehicle is similar to that of the BRX model released by the Cadillac group. The vehicle will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show in the year 2009. The SRX vehicle, which is yet to be released, will be a successor model to the Provoq concept from the Cadillac group.

The SRX model is sharing most of the features from the General Motors’s vehicles. The powertrain used in the SRX is the biggest difference when compared with the Provoq model. It uses the E-Flex powertrain that is based on the Volt along with an extender, the fuel cell range. The SRX model falls under the category of the conventional fully modern luxury crossover vehicle.

The design of the vehicle has more aggressive SUV appearance. The most notable difference between the SRX and the Provoq is the grille. The fuel cell powered Provoq had the controlling the shutters in grille that opens and closes depending on the cooling demands by the powertrain. While in the SRX, the system is reverted much similar to the STS and the CTS models. The fog lights that work on the LED technology in the front corners have been replaced by the more conservative looking lights. The vehicle appears like a Cadillac and fits with the family of CTS cars.

The more conventional door handles, side mirrors, tail pipes and the door handles have been changed when compared with the predecessor model Provoq. The navigation screen unit is fitted in the vehicle, similar to that of CTS. The vehicle comes with the parking brakes that are operated electronically and can be activated by the use of switch on the console, which is located at the left side of the shift lever. The footwell space in the vehicle is freed up by the EPB other wise the space would be occupied by the foot activated unit.

The overall features in the vehicle include:

• Side mirrors
• Door handles
• Tail pipes
• Navigation screen unit
• Parking brakes
• EPB
• LED fog lights
• Electronic limiters

The SRX original model was based on the Sigma platform used in the CTS model, using either the rear wheel or the all wheel drive. The new SRX comes with the Theta architecture with the front wheel drive in base models and all wheel drive is provided as optional. The variant AWD uses Haldex system to allocate the drive torque to the back axle based on the need. The torque in the vehicle is distributed equally by the electronic limiters based on the stability and the slip control requirements in the wheel.

The SRX comes in two different types of engines namely the 3.6 liter V6 and the 3.0 liter base engine. The engine 3.0 liter produces 260 horse power and the 221 lb ft of torque, while the 3.6 liter falls short in producing the torque.
