Bentley recently announced an all new design of the latest 2010 Bentley Arnage. Currently, Arnage is supposed to be the largest saloon in the line-up of Bentley selling over 800 units per annum. And now the company has decided it’s about time they replaced it with a newer model.
More interestingly, we’re not just looking at a complete revamp of Continental Flying Spur, but also expecting involvement of Audi in this project. Apparently, the design will be on similar lines of Bentley, while the chassis used in the vehicle would be the Audi’s spaceframe chassis.
What’s more, all the upcoming launches of Bentley are expected to be manufactured with Audi’s spaceframe chassis. As a result, it is expected that the car will become about 150-160kg lighter than its current version, but Bentley is not willing to give up their unique design with traditional high roof as well as seating arrangement, which has been the trademark of all the Bentley cars in the past.
Apart from the Audi effect, the 2010 Bentley Arnage will be powered by a massive 987BHP Bugatti W16 Engine, which looks like a matter of concern, thanks to the global concern over high oil prices. Basically, the legendary quad-turbo unit will be the biggest factor in the increase of the cost of the 2010 Bentley Arnage.
As per the recent updates from Bentley, the company is not interested in rolling out diesel or hybrid versions, and currently they prefer to wait and watch what kind of show Mercedes, VW, and the likes of them, put up in the US market.
As far as the tech specs are concerned, the company is yet to finalize on them, though at this point of time, all that can be said is that the 2010 Bentley Arnage will hit the market in about 2 years time from now. A lot more has to be decided upon the specs of the vehicle, as well as the inclusion of the ultra expensive legendary quad-turbo unit, which could further increase the cost of the car.
Keeping the current market trends, and the worldwide recession, it is quite obvious that Bentley would be interested in producing a car, which is more than capable of taking over their presently most successful car model.
Furthermore, another point of discussion about the changes that should be brought about in the 2010 Bentley Arnage is that the size of the car will not be brought down, though the company plans on taking off over a 150kg load from the weight of the car. The 6.75 litres power plant deployed for the current production will also need to be revamped completely to meet with the latest emissions standards of the European Union.
Therefore, if you’re fancying getting your hands on this one within a year, there’s no way you are going to be able to do so. So let’s wait and watch what Bentley finally comes up with, by the end of 2010!
